On Saturday, a group of Gibson Technology employees completed the Yorkshire Three Peaks to raise as much money as possible for The Stroke Association.
Headtorch lit Chapel le Dale was the start point for our counter-clockwise loop. The three mountains of the Yorkshire Three Peaks, Ingleborough (723m), Pen-y-Ghent (694 metres) and Whernside (736 metres), are arranged in a triangle, with the River Ribble and two minor B roads separating them. The total walking distance being 39.2km (24.5 miles) and the total elevation gain accumulating to 1585m (5200ft).
Our first summit was dampened by clouds, as were our clothes. The weather improved throughout the day, allowing us spectacular views of the Ribblehead Viaduct, and of the peaks and ground we had conquered throughout the day.
Our Chairman and founder, Bill Gibson, suffered a stroke in October 2023, leaving his family, friends and colleagues worried for this future. Now 10 months on he’s recovering well at home; having physically progressed but still has some long term challenges ahead.
Thank you to everyone for your donations and support this weekend, and to our amazing team for completing the challenge. We raised over £4,000 for an amazing cause – GIBSON TECHNOLOGY is fundraising for Stroke Association
