Gibson Engines Power a Record Number on the Le Mans 2021 Grid

The entry list for the 89th running of Le Mans 24 Hours 2021 has been announced, with a record 26 LMP2 cars powered by Gibson GK428 engines.

In LMP1 Alpine has unveiled the livery for its new WEC/Le Mans 24 hour challenger for 2021. The Alpine Gibson A480 was formerly raced as the Rebellion R13 and it will now compete in the Hypercar class against Toyota and Glickenhaus. Nicolas Lapierre, Matthieu Vaxiviere and Andre Negrao will be the drivers in the Signatech run car.

The Alpine LMP1 entry is complemented by a record 26 LMP2 cars…..All the 11 WEC runners are on the list (Le Mans is a WEC race – so if you are in WEC you are in Le Mans). There are a further 9 ELMS runners IDEC, United x 2, Algarve x 2 (under the G Drive banner), Duqueine, Graff, WRT and Panis. The remaining six cars: ERA from IMSA (under the IDEC banner), PR1 from IMSA, a second High Class Racing, Eurasia and RISI. Graff also has a second Oreca under the SRT41 banner – this car is the “Garage 56” entry and will feature physically impaired drivers in a specially adapted chassis. There is normally a reserve list but this year one was not published.

An impressive line up for the Gibson powered cars, with this year’s Le Mans race taking place on 21st – 22nd August.
