Dyno Test and Development Engineer: HR2021-T2

Gibson Technology Ltd is an established world leader in the design, development & manufacture of cost effective, high-performance internal combustion engines. Additionally, we have recently established a capability to create state of the art electrical machines & power electronics under our Gibson Power Systems branding.

As a result of this expansion, we currently have the following Dyno Test & Development Engineer employment opportunity available:

Role:   

The successful candidate will join our Engineering team responsible for test & development of a range of high-performance engines & electro-mechanical devices.

Duties & responsibilities will include:

  • Hands-on, dynamometer-based powertrain & power system testing & development.
  • Rig and de-rig of engines (racing & other categories) to test beds.
  • Gathering & analysis of data plus the writing of technical reports to convey test results.
  • Engine control & calibration work.
  • Sensor specification, calibration & application for rig & dyno data capture.
  • Attendance & contribution to engineering development meetings.
  • Maintenance of dyno-cell systems & services.
  • Dyno based engine fault & performance investigation & reporting.
  • Engine control & calibration work.
  • Production validation, performance, durability & development testing work

The candidate should have the following qualifications, skills & experience:

  • Excellent mechanical aptitude & skills, with a good understanding of IC engines & related electronic systems.
  • Time-served in an automotive / engineering apprenticeship or Honours Degree in Mechanical or Automotive Engineering with experience of working in a similar role / environment.
  • Working knowledge of precision dynamometer processes & experience of Sierra CP dyno control systems would be an advantage but training will be provided.
  • High levels of motivation & a flexible approach in terms of working hours.
  • Experience of working to tight deadlines in a demanding environment and use of investigative techniques to identify and solve problems.
  • Desire to learn new technologies.
  • Good written & verbal communication skills.
  • Proficiency with standard office tools (Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project etc).

Sub Assembly Technician: HR2021-SA01

We are looking for a talented individual who is confident, willing to learn new skills, holds high level NVQ or equivalent certificates and is able to demonstrate the following qualities.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Assembly of precision components.
  • Dimensional measurement of assemblies during strip and assembly.
  • Recording detailed data both on hard copy and electronically.
  • Ability to produce clear, concise and accurate technical reports.
  • Working in partnership with all departments to achieve targets.
  • Work closely with engine assembly / manufacturing departments to identify and help resolve production and quality issues.

 

Skill set required

  • Time served in an automotive / engineering apprenticeship or experience working in a similar role / environment.
  • Computer literacy and proficiency with standard Office tools (Microsoft Word, Excel etc.).
  • Experience of working to tight deadlines in a demanding environment and use of investigative techniques to identify and solve problems.
  • Desire to learn new technologies.
  • High levels of motivation and a flexible approach in terms of working hours.

We have the following opportunity to work at our prestigious engineering facilities within the Electric Power Systems department on cutting-edge eMachine technology for automotive applications. The role requires mechanical assembly of electric motors and generators. We are looking for a talented individual who is confident, willing to learn new skills, holds high level NVQ or equivalent certificates and is able to demonstrate the following qualities.

Apprenticeships

An apprenticeship is an excellent way to learn from some of the best people in the engineering industry. Joining us as an apprentice you will have the opportunity to experience many different disciplines while you are obtaining a National recognised qualification.

A small number of Apprenticeships are available each year in the Mechanical Engineering discipline.

From day one you will join a structured training programme which will give you the understanding to become the Technician or Engineer that you want to be. You will be hands on while at work and be required to attend college one day a week. Once you have completed your apprenticeship you will be given the opportunity to continue with your education and career progression within the company.
