European Le Mans Series 2016 Final Round

It’s the final round of the European Le Mans Series at Estoril, Portugal this weekend. It’s also the final time the Gibson 015S will compete in the ELMS, due to changes in chassis regulations from 2017.

G Drive Racing which is run by Jota Sport go into the final race competing with their Gibson 015S in second place in the Championship in LMP2, with their sights set on taking the title at Estoril. With just 14 points separating G Drive and the leading team Thiriet by TDS Racing, the 4 hour race should prove to be a great battle between the teams. The driver trio of Simon Dolan, Harry Tincknell and Guido Van Der Garde will be pushing the Gibson chassis to the limit at Estoril.

Four other LMP2 teams will compete on Sunday at Estoril with Gibson-Nissan powered engines; Panis Barthez Competition, SMP, Krohn Racing, and Greaves Motorsport. From 2017 all LMP2 chassis competing in ELMS will be powered by the newly developed 4.2 litre V8 Gibson engines.

The 4 hours of Estoril takes place on Sunday 23rd October 13.30 – 17.30.
