Business Analyst (9 month maximum fixed term contract) : HR 2018-BA04

Role Summary:

This Business Analyst graduate role is part funded through the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) which is aimed at supporting businesses in collaboration with the University of Derby. As well as supporting the cost of the graduate, the University of Derby will also provide specialist academic input throughout the duration of the project.

As Gibson Technology expands we need to ensure our business process methodology keeps pace.

This newly created position involves analysing and quantifying what has led to our unrivalled success. In doing so, we want to identify the drivers and develop an innovative business model that will strengthen the company and ensure we are ready for the successes of tomorrow.

Key Responsibilities:

• You will be working in parallel with company directors, department managers, development engineers, workshop personnel and administration staff.
• Your brief will be to dissect the company culture, working methodology, systems, organisational structure and every other aspect of the business that you feel is necessary to understand our strengths and weaknesses.
• You will then be asked to propose improved systems, procedures and structures before embarking on an internal marketing campaign to sell the benefits of the changes you identify as necessary to help us work smarter and more efficiently.
• Creating and driving a ground up detailed business performance analysis and delivering sustainable solutions that will assist the company as it moves through this current phase of growth.
• Analyse current working practices / systems and develop / implement (amongst other changes) a tailored ERP methodology.
• Working effectively and collaboratively at all levels of the company structure to deliver a system that promotes a cohesive team environment with clearly defined corporate objectives.

General Skills Required:
• Ability to work collaboratively yet independently. Be highly motivated and outcome driven.
• Ability to dissect a high-level project brief and use it to produce a detailed strategy for change.
• Able to extrapolate, refine, validate and document hard and soft data. Provide clear requirements and solutions to complete the assignment.
• Experience of working with senior stakeholders to define and validate solutions.
• Ability to identify a Minimum Viable Product from a large body of work.
• An understanding of project management perspectives and high pressure working environments.
• Ability to understand and solve complex problems and produce innovative solutions.
• An ability to develop an understanding of underlying systems, their capabilities, and their architecture.
• Experience of working collaboratively at all levels of an SME company structure.
• To quickly gain an understanding of the Gibson philosophy and passion for engineering excellence and to build on the positive aspects identified.
• To be able to apply Agile & Waterfall processes as required.
• Ability to identify various granularities.
• Ability to document software and physical processes.
• Organisational behaviour existing and ‘to be’ analysis.

CNC Milling Programmer & Operator : HR 2018-M03

Gibson Technology is an established and world renowned leader in the design, development and manufacture of high performance racing engines and racing systems.

As part of our continuing expansion program we have the following opportunities to work within our prestigious engineering facility at our Repton site in Derbyshire.

We are looking for skilled and talented individuals who are time served and hold high level NVQ or equivalent certificates to join our manufacturing department, becoming integral members of our team producing high precision components.

Role and responsibilities

  • Machine to high standards of quality and precision.
  • Set up tooling and fixturing and execute part programs.
  • Manage the programming of updates and new components.
  • Support design and production engineering on the deployment of methodologies.
  • Apply a continuous improvement approach.
  • Carry out in-process inspection to include cmm operation.
  • Re-enforce the department’s positive approach to knowledge sharing and supporting apprentices.

Skill set required

  • Solid background in precision machining.
  • Experienced in using multi axis CNC machine tools, DMG Mori Seiki an advantage.
  • Competence and familiarity of programming with Fanuc control systems.
  • Capable of manufacturing highly detailed components.
  • Sound understanding of materials and modern cutting methods.
  • Able to read and interpret engineering drawings.
  • Able to work with minimum supervision.
  • High levels of motivation and a flexible approach in terms of working hours.
  • Shift work may be required on occasions.
  • Ability to positively interact with design and build departments to overcome engineering challenges.

Sub Assembly/Race Engine Technicians : Ref HR 2018-SA01

Role:

As part of our continuing expansion program we have the following opportunities to work within our prestigious engineering facility at our Repton site in Derbyshire.

We are looking for skilled and talented individuals who are time served and hold high level NVQ or equivalent certificates to join our Race Engine Sub Assembly Department, becoming integral members of our team producing high performance racing engines.

The successful candidate will be working under the direction of the Engine Build Shop Manager and will be primarily responsible for the assembly of engine ancillaries within the sub assembly department.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assembly of precision engine components.
  • Dimensional measurement of assemblies during strip and assembly.
  • Recording detailed data both on hard copy and electronically.
  • Ability to produce clear, concise and accurate technical reports.
  • Working in partnership with all departments to achieve targets.
  • Work closely with engine assembly to identify and resolve production and quality issues.

Skill set required:

  • Time served in an automotive / engineering apprenticeship or experience working in a similar role / environment.
  • Computer literacy and proficiency with standard Office tools (Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project etc).
  • High levels of motivation and a flexible approach in terms of working hours.
  • Experience of working to tight deadlines in a demanding environment and use of investigative techniques to identify and solve problems.
  • Desire to learn new technologies.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills.

Apprenticeships

An apprenticeship is an excellent way to learn from some of the best people in the engineering industry. Joining us as an apprentice you will have the opportunity to experience many different disciplines while you are obtaining a National recognised qualification.

A small number of Apprenticeships are available each year in the Mechanical Engineering discipline.

From day one you will join a structured training programme which will give you the understanding to become the Technician or Engineer that you want to be. You will be hands on while at work and be required to attend college one day a week. Once you have completed your apprenticeship you will be given the opportunity to continue with your education and career progression within the company.
